State of the me

fangirlishnessI haven't posted to this journal since November of last year. The reason is that I haven't actually posted anything to tumblr in the intervening time.
Well, I just caught up on the things I forgot to repost, but there really was nothing more recent than last November. In any case, it should all be here now.
I'm just making this post to let you all know that I'll be hosting "Write Every Day" all through August. It's a low-pressure activity where every participant comments on the daily post with their progress and we all encourage each other to write every day.
That means for you: I will make one post a day to this journal for the next month, starting tomorrow. If you're not interested in that, feel free to block the "write every day" tag. If you are interested, feel free to join us! You can join (or drop out) anytime.
I have found that it has helped me a lot every time I've participated.
So... why am I participating again now?
I haven't been idle (or out of the Librarians fandom) all this time, I just haven't been to tumblr at all. I was a bit disappointed (okay, a lot disappointed) in how they ended the second season, meaning I wasn't interested in gushing and gif-ing.
I was very much interested in repairing my damaged relationship with Flynn Carsen, though, so I set out to write a fic. It started out as something of a fix-it fic, but after a while, I just needed to keep interacting with Flynn and there was so much to tell beyond the initial fix.
The fix in question is that I didn't think they showed Flynn had learned his lesson well enough, and that Eve accepted him back too easily. So I wanted to expand on that and show the process we missed. That, of course, means that the fic is set during the last episode of season 2. Which, for me, meant a shitload of googling how things worked in Shakespearean times. That was very educational. *g*
The biggest surprise about this fic is that it's a Flynn/Eve/Moriarty threesome fic. I have no idea how exactly that happened, but I suspect I was angry enough at Flynn that I considered Moriarty the better fit for Eve. Of course that'll never happen for real, so threesome it was!
It turns out writing a threesome is much more complicated than writing a fluffy established-relationship piece. Who would have thought? ;) Choosing Flynn POV for this also contributed to it being a more difficult process for me.
I have been working on this fic since January, and it is now over 30K words long. I have no idea how much longer it will get, but I am definitely planning on finishing it before the season3 premiere in November. Right now, that still seems feasible.
All in all, I have had *a ton* of fun writing it so far. I'm expecting to get some flak for including Moriarty, and I'm not sure anybody will want to read it.
BUT, I couldn't imagine a better way to spend my year.
